Merino - A fabric worth dying for

Merino sheep originated in Spain and up until the 18th century exporting Merinos from Spain was a crime punishable by death. We reckon the Spaniards were totally justified as we also feel pretty protective about our Ultrafine Merino range.

One of the reasons Merino is so sought after is that its fibres are hydrophobic and hydrophilic - a fancy way of saying it will keep you warm even when it gets wet as it draws moisture away from the skin.

These high performance attributes also keep you cool in the heat of summer. Merino wool provides a personal ‘air-conditioning’ system to maintain temperature regulation through its natural crimp, which creates a lot of very small insulating air pockets.

We know from over 20 years experience making NZ merino clothing that it’s the small things like this that really make a difference in the quality and life of our Merino range.
